The Fed uses EViews for the FRB/US model. Why? It is easy to make pictures. Never mind that EViews does not have the algorithms the Fed needs, forcing the Fed to write up their own algorithms in EViews’ language.
I have pointed out to the Fed that even Fortran code can create output files that can be read by other software (even EViews!) to draw pictures.
